Elk Mountain Grand Traverse: The Drive Home

Mary and I had two days to get home from Aspen, so we decided to take a little side trip and enjoy some of the incredible southern Utah scenery.

Just a bit south of Interstate 70 is Goblins State Park.

The weather was warm bordering on hot. Glad I brought the shorts.

Amazing formations.

Then we headed south to Hanksville and over to Capitol Reef National Park.

Factory Butte.

Navajo Dome in Capitol Reef.

Big sandstone formations.

Also some incredible Petroglyph panels.

Shiny, austere cliffs.

Layers. A geologist's heaven!

Leaving the park with the La Sal mountains in the background.

This little detour added to an already long drive, but it was completely worth for the amazing beauty.
