Traveling "home" from Keeler to Lone Pine last night after work, I was shocked and excited to see a family of foxes right beside the road.
Every other fox encounter I have had involved a skittish adult running and hiding at the first site of me or my vehicle. These foxes, on the other hand, were completely ambivalent to my presence.
First the youngsters (click to enlarge).
Same photo, zoomed in.
They may have felt safe next to their burrows.
The adults were equally at ease.
I parked about twenty yards away and watched them for several minutes. They did not mind at all!
After a typically long Monday at work my mood was instantly improved!
