Wire Pass

Mary and I had such a great hike up Hackberry Canyon and Yellow Rock we were eager to get out again the next day. We joined Jim and Elysia for a hike through Wire Pass and down to Buckskin Gulch.

The route initially follows a shallow, pretty wash.

Then enters a series of fantastic narrows. This is Mary at the entrance to the first narrow section.

There are several spots that are not much more than shoulder width.

A rock/log jam part way through was fairly easy to negotiate.

The light was really cool here.

The exit from the first narrows put us in a gorgeous scene.

Great rock.

The last narrows ends just above the confluence with Buckskin Gulch.

Where there are huge sandstone walls.

We were able to hike up Buckskin Gulch maybe a half mile to a large mud pool where we turned around. Here's Elysia just before the big puddle.

So much fun hiking these washes!

Another stellar day for sure!.
